Labor Day

Dan and I rolled up our sleeves and took on a new challenge on Labor Day. We are trying our best shot this year at canning. I think it is a lot of fun. Messy, but fun... and worth it. We attempted salsa and stewed tomatoes. 2 things we go through a lot at our house. We tried 2 salsa recipes and chose which one we liked more and kept that recipe. Anywho... out came my very dusty bottles that were handed down to me from my mother-in-law and away we went.

We learned what "blanching" is. Since I am easily amused.... I really did like how the skins fell right off the tomato. I thought they looked pretty neat with all their veins.
Right before the Stewed tomatoes got cooked. I might be strange, but I think the colors together are really pretty. All that Yummy Fresh stuff!
